Hey, welcome to the official website of TEDxCMU! I’m Yongho Shin, the co-founder and president. My team and I will use this blog to give you updates on the event and cool TED-related links we think are worth spreading.
What is TED and TEDx?
TED started in 1984 as a yearly conference in Long Beach, California to unite the best people in the worlds of technology, entertainment, and design. It is devoted to sharing Ideas Worth Spreading and has now evolved to something much greater than that and invites speakers from all different fields, including business, the arts, and government. If you can only go to one conference in your lifetime, you want to go to TED. But good luck getting in: tickets cost at least $6000 and are sold out a year before the event.
TEDx is a program TED recently launched that allows people to have their own independently-organized TED-like events wherever they like. TEDxCMU is a student-run organization at Carnegie Mellon University.
Who is organizing TEDxCMU?
While the idea started with me, we could not come anywhere near as far as we are now without my amazing team. Check the team page to see who they are!
We will be using this blog to keep you updated on event details and reveal speakers. There are 3 easy ways to get free updates:
