As a founding member of both an art group and a touring punk/metal band, Nathan has spoken, toured and exhibited internationally since age sixteen. Nathan has over a decade of experience with mobile technology starting in 1999 as Mobile Device Specialist for MetaDesign SF and continuing in his work with clients including Palm Computing, Brodia, Panasonic, and Nike.

Nathan has taught Art and Design at several universities and holds an MFA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, both in Electronic Media Art. Nathan has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work in art, music, and technology, and continues to write and speak about his passion for integrating the artists’ process into the design and development of improved ways of experiencing people, information, and objects in this world.

He began as a cartoonist in 1997 with leading Indian publications. He has been extensively featured by the Indian and international media and supported and endorsed by numerous celebrities and significant figures in the international art scene. His work conceptually grapples with the construct of identity, gender and sexuality, and the absence of interpersonal context in today’s world of online identity performance. He has lectured at New York University (New York, NY) and at several art institutions, including New Hampshire Institute of Art (Manchester, NH, USA) and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (Nimes, France). In 2007, he was invited as a guest of the city of Nimes to exhibit his work at the Carre d’Art Musee d’Art Contemporain. In February 2010, Raghava was invited to speak at the TED Conference (Technology, Entertainment, Design) in Long Beach, CA along with director James Cameron, musician Sheryl Crow, playwright Eve Ensler, Bill Gates, and mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot. He presently lives and works in both Bangalore, India and Brooklyn, NY.

DS Company

Dancers’ Symposium is a Carnegie Mellon student organization committed to providing numerous and varying dance opportunities on campus. The DS Company is a new addition to the organization which fulfills the need for artistic exploration in the dance community. It consists of students who are passionately involved with dance on campus. They often perform Random Acts of Dance in various locations across campus either making a visual spectacle or just plain busting a move. Keep your eyes open Pittsburgh, because DS Company is breaking out on campus and is planning performing in the city as well!

Jackson Chu

Jackson Chu, a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University studying design, hopes to share a different cultural experience with the community. Having resided in Vancouver, Canada for almost seven years, he was an active member in the community even before he arrived at Carnegie Mellon University, playing his Chinese ethnical instrument called an “erhu” in various occasions, including the Young Masters Project for the Vancouver Recital Society. After arriving on campus, he also engaged himself with various organizations including TSA and ARCC through a variety of events.
